Marigold has a powerful anti-inflammatory effect, for which it is used to rinse the oral cavity. It has a spasmolytic effect (relaxes spasmodic smooth muscle contraction), stops further bacterial growth, accelerates the healing of purulent and poorly healing wounds with inflammatory surroundings when used externally, and is also used against fungus and for tibial ulcers.
